Different waters have different conductivities.
Pure water is too resistive (less than 1 micro-siemens) to allow much current to flow. The result is that too much time is needed to even start the process of conduction.
Hard water, on the other hand, is so conductive (more than 50 micro-siemens), that it allows too much current to flow. The result is that nanoparticle quality is compromised.
In our research lab, we tested pure water and hard water, as well as the extreme grades of water for each type – too pure and too hard. The objective of the test was to improve current control in all types of water.
From the tests, we noted that the constant current control did not operate fully in the extreme grades of pure and hard waters.
